After several unsuccessful funding bids which included path repairs Hyndburn Borough Council added the paths and drainage at the bottom of the park onto their capital works program. The paths were in a desperate state and were in urgent need of replacement.

The path around the bowling green was also replaced and a disabled access ramp constructed.

Before the work almost none of the drainage at the bottom of the park was functional. This was causing flooding of play areas, paths and the bowling green.

The drainage work made an instant impact to the park and only after very heavy rainfall is water seen to run out of the park. This was a regular occurance before the drain replacements. As part of the drain survey work a collpased drain on Park Lane was identified. This was repaired by Lancashire County Councils Highways Department and cured a flooding problem on Park Lane that had occured for may years after heavy rain fall.

The pictures above show some before and after pictures of the path replacement program.
